It was the New York City International Film Festival last month, which saw movies from all over the globe compete for the sought after awards. One of the biggest success stories from the event was a short film, voiced and produced by young British actor Ben Macleod. Attack of the Aliens managed to beat twelve other nominees to win the Best Animation award.
This is one of the first projects from Ben's production company Edge Haine Productions and is an incredible achievement for the young actor. Together with his team, director/writer Elliott Ashton and Gaia Predassi, he will be touring the festivals over the next twelve months, hopefully collecting more awards along the way and attracting the attention of major movie studios.
I've been lucky enough to watch the full six minute film and it's a great piece of work from the fledgling company. If this is what they can achieve with their first CGI feature, then expect to see a lot more from them over the coming years...and you heard it here first!
