UK Top Ten: 15-17th JULY 2011

There was no surprise at the top of the UK box office last weekend, as the final Harry Potter film blew away all the competition taking over £23m in just three days! This was helped by the nearly 50% increase in ticket price if you chose to watch it in IMAX 3D of course, but even so, it looks like it's going to take more money than any of the other Potter movies.

The number two spot was taken by Transformers 3 which continues to pull in the money, even after the critics had given it a right old kicking. Just goes to show that fan boys still want to pay to see Michael Bay blow stuff up.

The film that's being called The Hangover for women, Bridesmaids is in third place and has performed really well in the UK, having taken almost £16m so far. Who needs a romantic chick flick when you can watch a gross out chick flick instead? Brilliant!

Movie News: New Spiderman Trailer!

It may still be a year away, but here is the first look at The Amazing Spiderman. Marc Webb (Quantum of Solace) is in the director's chair and is aiming to re-launch the Spiderman series with  new actors (Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone) and a more dramatic tone.

Trailer of the Week: THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN

Here's the second trailer for Steven Spielberg's CGI spectacular The Adventures of Tintin. We get to see a lot more action and a few more characters in this one and it looks like it's going to be a great film.  However, I'm only basing that on two minutes of cleverly cut together footage and let's face it,  it wouldn't be the first time a film hasn't lived up to it's trailer.  Not every film has Spielberg and Jackson at the helm though, so this movie definitely has a lot going for it. I'm still not too sure about this type of motion capture CGI though.  It worked well on Avatar, but here it seems a bit strange. Nowhere near as creepy as Polar Express, just not quite right.  Take a look at the trailer by clicking on the link below and let me know what you think.

Movie News: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - FIRST POSTER!

This has to be one of the most anticipated films of 2012, so expect excitement levels to hit an all new high, as the first movie poster for The Dark Knight Rises has just been released.  Not only that, but there's also a rumour going around that a teaser trailer could be attached to the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2 this weekend.
