Movie News: THE NEW 'Q'!

There's no denying that the new Bond movie 'Skyfall' has pulled together an impressive cast. Alongside regulars, Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench are; Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Naomi Harris. They will also be joined by young British actor Ben Whishaw, although we had no idea idea which character he's be playing.

Well, it has now been officially confirmed that he will be playing 'Q', master of all things gadgety. This will make him the youngest 'Q' ever in the Bond series by about seventy years!

Some hardcore Bond fans may not like it, but I think it's a great idea to reinvent the character in this way. Also, anyone who's seen 'Perfume', 'The Hour' or 'Criminal Justice' will know what a fantastic actor Ben is. I cannot wait to see what he does with the role and I have more than enough confidence when Sam Mendes is sitting in the director's chair.

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?

Trailer of the Week: WOMAN IN BLACK

It only seems like five minutes ago when a ten year old Daniel Radcliffe first put on those cute round glasses and headed off to Hogwarts.  Well, he's all grown up now and to prove it his next film is a supernatural horror  'The Woman In Black'.

Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think.  Do you miss the lightning scar and wand action or do you think he can carry off the grown up actor thing? Let me know by leaving a comment below.

Movie News: KEN RUSSELL RIP

Ken Russell
1927-2011

Ken Russell, Britain's most highly controversial and provocative directors, died suddenly at his home on Sunday night. He was 84 years old.

Probably most known for his films 'Woman In Love' (for which he received his one and only Oscar nomination for Best Director), 'The Devils' and 'Tommy' starring Roger Daltrey. Hundreds of tributes have been pouring in from critics, fans, family and friends.

Melvyn Bragg - "He was an exceptional man. He was almost, but not quite, an eccentric. He was on his own  - he hadn't been to university, he'd been a sailor, he'd been a photographer, he didn't come out of the usual pockets."

Vanessa Redgrave - "He was and his films remain a work of genius. As a genius he was extraordinary and like all geniuses, at times his films were much less than genius."

Glenda Jackson - "He was absolutely wonderful to work with. He welcomed ideas from other people, from the clapper boy all the way up. But the final choice was always his. He created the kind of climate in which actors could do their job and I loved him dearly."

Movie News: THE BOURNE LEGACY WITHOUT DAMON?

I first wrote about this a while ago and it got a mixed response from you guys.  Most thought the idea of a new Bourne film was great, but without Matt Damon? Not so sure it would work.

Well, since then it's been officially confirmed that Jeremy Renner is the one chosen to takeover arse kicking duties; although he won't be playing Jason Bourne or suffer from amnesia. Here's what he had to say to Empire magazine in a recent interview;

"My character is called Aaron cross, but he ends up having a bunch different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters."

Is Treadstone still involved?

"Yeah, it's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash.  It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger.  The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie."

Movie News: NEW BOND GIRL REVEALED...LITERALLY!

Earlier today it was officially announced that the new 007 film will be called SKYFALL, but who really cares about that?

What most fan boys and some girls want to know is who's been cast as the latest Bond girl? Well, you have to wait no longer. Let me introduce you to a little known French actress named Berenice Marlohe. I cannot wait to see her in action!

What do you guys think?

Just to even things out, here's something for the girls...and some guys too!

Trailer of the Week: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL

The first trailer for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol was good, but not great. This second trailer takes it to a whole other level! Stuff blowing up? Check. Almost hit by flying car? Check. Crazy stunt on high building? Check. What more do you need? Well, a good plot helps and it seems they may have nailed it.

Check out the new trailer below and let me know what you think.

Movie News: TOM CRUISE DOES HIS OWN STUNTS!

We've all heard at one point or another that Tom Cruise loves to do his own stunts, but in case you thought this was just Hollywood PR people trying to make their client seem uber cool, check out the featurette below.

I have no idea how much a film company has to pay to insure Cruise to do this stunt work, but I'd imagine it would be something ridiculous. That being said, he's 50 next year and he's running down the side of the tallest building in the world! Respect.

I hope Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is as good as I want it to be.  We'll find out next month.
