UK Top Ten: 23rd-25th SEPTEMBER 2011

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy easily hangs on to the number one spot this week, adding another £2m to it's total. It just goes to show, even with a slow burner of a film like this, that fantastic reviews and positive word of mouth will drive audiences into the cinema. It's no surprise that there are already rumours about this becoming a franchise, so don't be surprised if we see Gary Oldman return as George Smiley.

In contrast, not a great weekend for Crazy, Stupid, Love or Tom Hardy's latest film, Warrior. Although they opened in second and third place respectively, they could only manage to make around £800K, so I don't expect them to be hanging around the UK top ten for very long.

Movie News: DARK KNIGHT ONSET PICTURES!

We saw the first picture of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman a few weeks ago, accompanied by a somewhat mixed reaction from comic book fans...and that's putting it lightly. Well we now have a better selection of stills to look at and I think most fans will be breathing a sigh of relief and wondering why they ever doubted Christopher 'Genius' Nolan in the first place.

As you'll see, we also get an 'action shot' of Commissioner Gordon and something even more rare than that, Christian Bale smiling!

Thanks to Splash, Just Jared and Celebrity-Gossip for the heads up. Check out their sites for some more pics.

Movie News: THE NEW CLARK KENT!

Zack Snyder's Superman movie 'Man of Steel' in currently filming in Chicago, so it was only a matter of time before some 'on set' pictures find their way onto the internet.

So, after seeing a promotional picture of him in his super suit several weeks ago, here are the first pictures of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent.

What do you guys think? Is his hair big enough and where are the glasses?

UK Top Ten: 2nd-4th SEPTEMBER 2011

The Inbetweeners Movie has made a huge amount of cash since it's release a few weeks ago, keeping it at the top of the UK box office for a third week.  It's taken almost £35m so far and shows no sign of stopping any time soon, so don't be surprised if it's still there next week too!

A disappointing opening weekend for Colin Farrell's latest film Fright Night, as it struggled to make just over £600K and could only managed the number seven position.

The big surprise is how the hell Harry Potter is still in the top ten? Surely everyone in the UK must have seen this film by now? Clearly not, as it added a further £450K to it's total, taking to an incredible £71m!

Trailer of the Week: GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE

Here's the latest trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now, the first film was a bit ropey, but I still enjoyed it. Any chance to see Nicholas Cage going mental works for me, so I was chuffed to see they decided to make a sequel. It gives them the chance to put right, all the things that were wrong first time around.

I'm also a huge fan of Idris Elba (The Wire, Thor) and would watch any film he was in (unless it was a Twilight movie of course!)

Yes, it's over-the-top and ridiculous, but it looks like it's going to be a hell of a ride. It's released on February 17th 2012.

Movie News: TOP GUN RE-RELEASED IN 3D?

There have been some rumours flying around Hollywood that Tom Cruise is planning a sequel to Top Gun.

Now, at first I thought this was a load of rubbish, but I'm now hearing that Top Gun is getting a re-release at the cinema in 3D next year.  They could wait to see how this performs before giving the sequel a green light, but I could just be reading too much into the whole thing of course.

I don't like 3D upscaling at all, cause it's never any good.  I only want to see a 3D film if it's been filmed in 3D. This film is 25 years old, so I have no idea how it's going to look after a 3D conversion. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised?

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?

Movie News: CASTING UPDATE: LES MISERABLES

We've known for a while now that Les Miserables is getting a another remake, with Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) at the helm.  Now we are hearing some big names being confirmed, the latest of whom is Russell Crowe.

He will join Hugh Jackman and Helena Bonham Carter, with the film due for release at the end of 2012.  I have no doubt that with this director and these actors, it won't be long till this film starts attracting a lot of Oscar buzz.  You heard it hear first!

Movie News: TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN POSTERS

Here's a little treat for all you Twilight fans; two brand new posters for Breaking Dawn: Part One

As you may know, I'm not the biggest fans of these films (let's hope this one has a bigger CGI budget), but I know I'm probably in the minority. Besides, who knows, this film could be incredible...or just more of the same vampire/werewolf angst!

I guess all will be revealed in a couple of months time.
