Movie News: Skyfall Trailer!

I've been waiting for the full trailer of the new 007 film for a while now and it's finally arrived! Sam Mendes was an interesting choice for director, but judging by this two and half minute taster, he's done and incredible job.  Everything you'd expect from a Bond movie and more.

In recent years, one of the only things that has really let these films down is a dodgy villain. The best 007 movies have the greatest villains; Goldfinger, Dr No, View To A Kill and any of the films starring a cat stroking Blofeld! Getting Javier Bardem on board to play the villain in Skyfall was a stroke of genius, as anyone who's seen No Country For Old Men will attest to. I'm not sure about the blond hair though, he reminds me of Christopher Walken as Zorin in A View To A Kill...not that that's a bad thing!

Anyway, take a look at the trailer below and let me know what you think by commenting below.

Movie News: MAN OF STEEL TEASER TRAILER!

From the moment I heard Zack Snyder was directing the new Superman film and Christopher Nolan was producing I knew it was going to be something very special. Man of Steel isn't being released for another year and there has hardly been any information leaked about the plot, the villain or the look of the film. Even at ComicCon last week, neither Zack Snyder or Henry Cavill (Superman) would confirm whether the villain would be General Zod, although the chances are it probably will be.

Anyway, we now have out first look at this movie as Warner Bros have released not one, but two teaser trailers. They're both exactly the same, apart from one is voiced by Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent) and the other by Russell Crowe (Jor-El). As they both play the Father role to Superman it's a nice touch and they both have different words of wisdom to impart.

My favourite is the Russell Crowe version, so that's the one you can watch below.  If this trailer is anything to go by,  Man of Steel is going to be really good, if not incredible. With the Batman trilogy at an end, I'd love to see a new Superman trilogy emerge. We'll find out just how good it is on June 14th 2013.

Here's the Costner version if you'd like to watch that too!

Trailer of the Week: TOTAL RECALL!

The original Total Recall was a great film, sure it had its faults, but it was a proper thrill ride.  Arnie at his best, Michael Ironside being evil, an arse kicking Sharon Stone, what more did you need? Brilliant.

So, when I heard they were going to remake it with Colin Farrell, I thought it was going to be a big mistake. That was until I watched the full trailer the other day. It looks superb! If you don't believe, take a look at the trailer below. It's about time Colin Farrell got a decent part and reminded everyone he can hold his own when it comes to action movies.

Total Recall hits cinemas in the UK in August.

Movie News: HUNGER GAMES 2!

Whilst The Hunger Games continues to make a gazillions dollars around the world, it's no surprise a sequel is already in the works and even has a release date of November 22nd 2013.  Hunger Games: Catching Fire will begin filming at the end of the summer this year and will see the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen.

Movie News: LOOPER TRAILER!

This trailer has been out for a while, but I really liked it and wanted to get it up on the blog.  It's no secret I'm a big Bruce Willis fan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has starred in some of my favourite films over the last few years, most noticeably Inception

The film is Looper and it's a sort of a mash up of Time Cop and Jumper, which definitely gets my attention as they're both on my guilty pleasures movie list. The only thing that worries me is the release date at the end of September.  If this was an amazing film wouldn't it have been given a summer release? Perhaps this summer is too full and they didn't want it to get lost in the mix? I hope that's the reason. Occasionally, Bruce Willis makes some crap films (Cop Out, Surrogates) and I don't want this to be his next one. If the trailer's anything to go by, it should be brilliant.

Check it out below and let me know what you think.  I have a feeling this could be one of the surprise hits of 2012.

Movie News: ALL NEW DARK KNIGHT RISES POSTER!

Not too much longer to wait until The Dark Knight Rises hits cinemas this summer.  Over the last few weeks the hype has been continuing to build with more teasers and posters being released.  Well here's one you may not have seen yet.  It's a simple sexy image, but it says a lot and I have no doubt there are thousands of comic book fan boys out there with a new screen saver.

Take a look at the poster below and make sure you check out one of the most highly anticipated films of the year when The Dark Knight Rises is released in the UK on July 20th 2012.

Trailer of the Week: PROMETHEUS

There are some great films being released this year, but Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Prometheus has to be the one I'm anticipating the most. I've been a fan of Scott ever since I first saw Blade Runner and he is arguably one of the best directors this country has ever produced.

So far I've liked the trailers, but they haven't blown me away.  That all changed however, when I watched the brand new trailer below. It is incredible!

Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Movie News: Emma Watson in Hot Pants Shocker!

Here is Emma Watson as you've never seen her before and it's a long way from Hogwarts.  These shots were taken on the set of her new movie, Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring. The film is based on the true life story of a group of teens that robbed various celebrity homes in 2008 and stole around $3m.

Looking at these pictures of Emma feels a bit inappropriate, but I think it's because I watched her grow up in the Harry Potter films, so seeing her dressed in hot pants and flashing her stomach just seems wrong somehow.  I have no doubt there'll be a whole new generation of men (and some women) who will have no problem enjoying the fact she's hot though!

The Bling Ring is released next year.

Trailer of the Week: THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN

It's been a long time coming, but finally, here's the first full length trailer for the reboot of everyone's favourite arachnid hero, The Amazing Spiderman.

It's looks great, but yet again I have concerns about the CGI.  Why is it some films get it right (Star Trek) and others fail (Twilight)? We only get to see a few quick glimpses of The Lizard, but it's enough to get me worried. They do have another five months before release, so maybe there's some tweaking still to do, but at the moment I'm not impressed.  Other than that, the film looks to have a lot of potential and I'm a fan of Andrew Garfield, so am keen to see what he can do with the role.

Anyway, enough from me, take a look at the trailer below and let me know what you think.

By the time Men In Black 3 is released, it will have been ten years since the last one...TEN YEARS! So, the big question everyone wants answered is, will it be worth the wait? Well you can check out the official trailer below and decide for yourselves.

Are you looking forward to seeing it or does it all feel a bit dated? Let me know by commenting below.

Movie News: COOL NEW AMAZING SPIDERMAN POSTER

Thanks to my friends at SuperHeroHype I've got a first look at the new movie poster for The Amazing Spiderman. I want this film to be great and cannot wait for the trailer to be released (hopefully before the end of the year). In the meantime, I'll have to make do with these little extras that get drip fed onto the net.

Movie News: BATTLESHIP TRAILER WITH RIHANNA!

Gratuitous Rihanna pic courtesy of FHM Australia

Earlier this year the internet was full of rumours about Rihanna's movie debut in Battleship. Well now you get to see her in action (a bit) in this first official trailer.

I'm going to be honest and say the film does not look good, in fact it could be a real stinker, but I'm trying not to jump to any conclusions before seeing the whole 2 hours.  That being said, if this was the best footage they could pull together to sell the film, you've got to be concerned. On the plus side, it's Rihanna in uniform!

Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think by commenting below.

Movie News: 24 MOVIE BEGINS SHOOTING...SOON!

It's been a long time coming, but according to Deadline, the 24 movie has received a start date, with filming  to begin spring 2012. Everything's in place, they just have to wait for Kiefer Sutherland to free up some time in his busy schedule.

One good thing about a feature film version is you don't have to trawl through 24 episodes to find out how it ends, so that's a touch.  You also won't have to sit through those slightly bland middle-of-the-series episodes, which is another touch!

So, are you looking forward to this or has too much time past since the TV series finished? Let me know your thoughts by commenting below.

Movie News: THE NEW 'Q'!

There's no denying that the new Bond movie 'Skyfall' has pulled together an impressive cast. Alongside regulars, Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench are; Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Naomi Harris. They will also be joined by young British actor Ben Whishaw, although we had no idea idea which character he's be playing.

Well, it has now been officially confirmed that he will be playing 'Q', master of all things gadgety. This will make him the youngest 'Q' ever in the Bond series by about seventy years!

Some hardcore Bond fans may not like it, but I think it's a great idea to reinvent the character in this way. Also, anyone who's seen 'Perfume', 'The Hour' or 'Criminal Justice' will know what a fantastic actor Ben is. I cannot wait to see what he does with the role and I have more than enough confidence when Sam Mendes is sitting in the director's chair.

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?

Trailer of the Week: WOMAN IN BLACK

It only seems like five minutes ago when a ten year old Daniel Radcliffe first put on those cute round glasses and headed off to Hogwarts.  Well, he's all grown up now and to prove it his next film is a supernatural horror  'The Woman In Black'.

Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think.  Do you miss the lightning scar and wand action or do you think he can carry off the grown up actor thing? Let me know by leaving a comment below.

Movie News: KEN RUSSELL RIP

Ken Russell
1927-2011

Ken Russell, Britain's most highly controversial and provocative directors, died suddenly at his home on Sunday night. He was 84 years old.

Probably most known for his films 'Woman In Love' (for which he received his one and only Oscar nomination for Best Director), 'The Devils' and 'Tommy' starring Roger Daltrey. Hundreds of tributes have been pouring in from critics, fans, family and friends.

Melvyn Bragg - "He was an exceptional man. He was almost, but not quite, an eccentric. He was on his own  - he hadn't been to university, he'd been a sailor, he'd been a photographer, he didn't come out of the usual pockets."

Vanessa Redgrave - "He was and his films remain a work of genius. As a genius he was extraordinary and like all geniuses, at times his films were much less than genius."

Glenda Jackson - "He was absolutely wonderful to work with. He welcomed ideas from other people, from the clapper boy all the way up. But the final choice was always his. He created the kind of climate in which actors could do their job and I loved him dearly."

Movie News: THE BOURNE LEGACY WITHOUT DAMON?

I first wrote about this a while ago and it got a mixed response from you guys.  Most thought the idea of a new Bourne film was great, but without Matt Damon? Not so sure it would work.

Well, since then it's been officially confirmed that Jeremy Renner is the one chosen to takeover arse kicking duties; although he won't be playing Jason Bourne or suffer from amnesia. Here's what he had to say to Empire magazine in a recent interview;

"My character is called Aaron cross, but he ends up having a bunch different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters."

Is Treadstone still involved?

"Yeah, it's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash.  It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger.  The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie."

Movie News: NEW BOND GIRL REVEALED...LITERALLY!

Earlier today it was officially announced that the new 007 film will be called SKYFALL, but who really cares about that?

What most fan boys and some girls want to know is who's been cast as the latest Bond girl? Well, you have to wait no longer. Let me introduce you to a little known French actress named Berenice Marlohe. I cannot wait to see her in action!

What do you guys think?

Just to even things out, here's something for the girls...and some guys too!
